About Hannah

I am a dedicated Special Education teacher with extensive experience supporting students with diverse learning needs, including autism, learning disabilities, attention challenges, and students who require academic interventions. Throughout my career, I have been committed to helping students build the skills, confidence, and independence needed to reach their full potential.

I believe every student can learn and grow when provided with the right support, encouragement, and instructional strategies. My approach combines patience, structure, and high expectations, allowing students to feel successful while continuing to challenge themselves. I take the time to understand each student's unique strengths, interests, and learning style so that lessons are engaging, meaningful, and tailored to their individual needs.

Families can expect professionalism, clear communication, and a collaborative approach. I regularly monitor student progress, provide constructive feedback, and adjust instruction based on student performance and goals. Whether a student needs support with foundational reading skills, mathematics, executive functioning, social-emotional learning, or specialized instruction related to a disability, I strive to create a positive learning environment where they feel safe, supported, and motivated to succeed.

My greatest reward is seeing students gain confidence in their abilities and begin to view themselves as capable, successful learners. I am passionate about helping students overcome challenges, celebrate their progress, and develop skills that will benefit them both in school and beyond.

My approach as a tutor is centered on building strong relationships, identifying each student's strengths and needs, and creating engaging, individualized learning experiences. I believe students learn best when they feel supported, challenged at an appropriate level, and actively involved in the learning process.

I use explicit, systematic instruction combined with hands-on and interactive learning opportunities. I break complex skills into smaller, manageable steps and provide modeling, guided practice, and immediate feedback. I frequently use visual supports, graphic organizers, manipulatives, digital tools, and real-world examples to make concepts more accessible. For students who need additional support, I incorporate evidence-based strategies, positive reinforcement, and accommodations tailored to their learning needs. I also focus on building student confidence and independence by teaching strategies they can use beyond our tutoring sessions.

A typical lesson begins with a brief review of previously learned skills and a check for understanding. Next, I introduce the new concept through direct instruction and modeling. Students then participate in guided practice where I provide support and feedback as they apply the skill. As confidence grows, students move into independent practice to demonstrate understanding. Throughout the lesson, I monitor progress, adjust instruction as needed, and incorporate opportunities for discussion, movement, or interactive activities to maintain engagement. Lessons conclude with a review of key concepts and a preview of the next steps for learning.

My background in Special Education and intervention services has given me extensive experience working with students who learn in different ways. I specialize in helping struggling learners, including students with autism, learning disabilities, attention difficulties, and behavioral challenges. I am skilled at identifying barriers to learning and adapting instruction to meet individual needs. I also have experience teaching in both in-person and virtual settings, using technology and interactive tools to keep students engaged. Most importantly, I strive to create a positive, encouraging environment where students feel safe to take risks, make mistakes, and grow as learners.

My lessons are designed for students in PreK through elementary grades, though I am also comfortable working with older students who need support with foundational reading, mathematics, executive functioning, or social-emotional skills. I specialize in literacy development, early mathematics, social-emotional learning, and support for students receiving Special Education services or interventions. Lessons can be adapted for students with autism, learning disabilities, attention challenges, or those who simply need additional practice and confidence-building to reach their academic goals.
