Perfect! Pilar taught me for more than 20 hours spread over a couple months, and she was consistently prepared, energetic, and focused during each of our sessions. She modulated her corrections, conveying when what I had done was a minor error or one that was really grating to the ear of a native Spanish speaker, and she provided exactly the right level of reasoning to explain what I had done wrong -- sometimes an explanation helps, but sometimes you just need to know "that's how it is." Pilar is a modest person, but she's entirely too modest about her English ability -- she really understands idiomatic and nuanced English that allows her to convey precisely what a Spanish term means. Pilar is also just pleasant to talk to, a nice person to spend so much time with. Finally, Pilar was flexible about changing lesson plans if I asked us to focus elsewhere, and at least once was able to give me a full and professional lesson with no preparation because I asked us to cover a different grammatical form. I heartily recommend taking lessons with Pilar -- there is no doubt she can get you to whatever level you're looking for.

Perfect! I've been working with Pilar for a few months and it’s been a great experience. She has a thorough knowledge of both English and Spanish grammar, spelling, and syntax; and she fully understands how best to convey this knowledge to a student. Even more important for me is that she is incredibly patient. I'm a slow learner and have lots of questions--while she will give a push when necessary, she’s always ready to slow down and explain something if I'm not quite getting there. I tried Duolingo but felt I needed an actual teacher to interact with. I was correct—I can’t imagine a better learning experience!

Perfect! Pilar is an amazing Spanish teacher. With just a few classes already, my Spanish has improved immensely. I love how she runs her classes and customizes them based on your needs. She does such a great job at combining different types of teaching tactics to make sure you get a well-rounded education. She uses a mix of textbooks to help teach grammar and subject matter, as well as a lot of emphasis on speaking which is my favorite, and she always reviews any sort of mistakes you made during the class to further drill in the learnings. I also really love how she's super flexible and understanding of my crazy schedule. She never takes anything personally and makes herself available when I'm available and ready to take my next class. I HIGHLY recommend her and am so happy to have found her.
