About Tom
I have Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and French with a double minor in journalism and education as well as a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies, Translation from Spanish to English and from French to English. And I have worked professionally as a translator.
I have spent time in France, Morocco and Québec to hone and practice my French, as well as Spain and Nueva York to hone and practice my Spanish. You would be surprised how easy it is to fall in with a Spanish-speaking community when you attend Hunter College in NYC.
Finally, in terms of English, I have spent the last 10 years performing Shakespeare and delivering lines before a live audience. This has allowed me to develop a greater appreciation for present-day English vocabulary and grammar and has honed my presentation and public speaking skills.

I tend to focus student's preferences.
Otherwise, my lesson generally runs as follows:
- cover highlights from previous lesson, reinforcing challenge points, e.g. how to pronounce the letter 'd' in Spanish.
- address any questions the student may have.
-introduce a new topic related to grammar such as the difference between ser an estar, or the differences between el imperfecto and the indefinido.
- read and/or discuss a news article.
-review and reinforce any weak points from the current lesson.
I rarely cover all task for each and every lesson as the student may want to dwell on one particular task for an extend amount of time. Or, I may have a fairly in-depth grammar lesson.
