About Spencer
I have nurtured a lifelong passion for Spanish language and culture, which led me to pursue a B.A. in Hispanic Studies and Applied Linguistics. Over the past 11 years, I have taught students ranging from school-age learners to adults, helping them achieve fluency, clarity, and cultural understanding. My teaching experience includes guiding beginners through foundational skills, intermediate learners through practical application, and advanced students toward mastery and nuanced expression.
My teaching philosophy is student-centered, emphasizing adaptability, encouragement, and interactive learning. Lessons incorporate structured grammar, vocabulary development, conversation practice, reading comprehension, and cultural exploration. I aim to cultivate confidence, curiosity, and independent communication skills, ensuring learners progress steadily while enjoying the learning journey.
Outside of teaching, I actively engage with Spanish literature, media, and contemporary cultural trends. This allows me to bring authentic, relevant examples into lessons that connect students to the language’s rich diversity. Teaching Spanish is deeply rewarding because I witness learners transform from hesitant speakers into confident, articulate communicators capable of navigating real-world contexts fluently and with cultural awareness.
