About Emma
Emma is a qualified teacher of Modern Foreign Languages with over 10 years teaching experience in an outstanding London Secondary School. For 7 of those years, she has led the highly successful MFL Department where grades are well above the national average. She teaches Spanish from KS3 to A level and French from KS3 to GCSE, and is familiar with the Edexcel, AQA and OCR exam boards. She has been tutoring since 2016 and finds working one on one, catering for student’s individual needs and helping build confidence, particularly rewarding.
Emma completed a Spanish MA Hons degree at the University of Edinburgh, achieving a 2:1 with oral distinction, before working as a Schools Expedition Planner for World Challenge for four years, organising 4-week-long expeditions to Central and South America. Her passion for languages however, led her to train as a teacher, completing her PGCE in MFL at the Institute of Education in 2011. Ten years after embarking on a career as a teacher Emma is still as passionate about teaching languages as she was then and, through the planning of fun and engaging lessons, she promotes a real love of language learning. This is clear to see in the students’ enjoyment of lessons, their eagerness to do well and of course their results.
