About David
Retired elementary school science teacher (M.Ed. and maintaining current elementary teaching certificate) with 38 years of teaching experience, father of two, teaches exciting, popular classes (or visits/assemblies to area schools; in classrooms or large group) in astronomy and space exploration for elementary school students. This can either be in person classes/visits or virtual. In-person sessions are hosted by your school/district (for school visits), or at the home of one of the participants. 1-on-1 classes or tutoring is also possible. It is preferable that the in-person classes be in the St. Louis, USA metro area or adjacent areas of Illinois or Missouri. The instructor has been wildly successful teaching this subject area and format since 1986. Please note this is only for ages 6 through 13.

The children acquire concepts and skills (appropriate to the age level of each group) on solar system and stellar astronomy, human and robotic exploration of our solar system, living and working in space, night sky observation, planetary geology, and physics. Can be weather also/instead. Topics are tailored to the children's interests and everyday world, and learning experiences can include hands-on activities. Appeals to visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles.
The first 1-on-1 or small group lesson is free to try. Small group, one-hour lessons meet once each weekend for four weeks. Minimum of three students per group, maximum of eight. School visits/assemblies are in the classroom or in front of large groups. Cost: $25 per group lesson, $10 if hosting; 1-on-1 rate is $50 per hour or $25 per half hour. School visits are negotiable but generally $200-$300 per half day or $400-600 per full day. Talk with your schools, parents of your child's classmates to form a group, and explore hosting options!
