About Soheil
In Spring 2022, Dr. Soheil joined Colorado State University as an assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. His research is currently focused on computational mechanics, project-based learning and the long-term retention of knowledge and skills, design theory and philosophy. Dr. Soheil received his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of California, Merced in 2018 focused on the nonlinear dynamics of slender filaments. As an engineering educator and postdoctoral researcher at Cornell University, Sibley School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Dr. Soheil worked in the Active Learning Initiative (ALI) to promote student-centered learning and the use of computational tools such as ANSYS and MATLAB in engineering classrooms.

Dr. Soheil’s teaching experience spans a wide range of topics in the core mechanical engineering domains including solid mechanics and mechanics of materials laboratory experiments, machine design with the application of finite-element analysis (FEA), dynamics of machines and the design and validation of mechanisms. He also has experience in the fields of mechatronics, thermodynamics and heat transfer.
