About Shriya
Hello, I'm Shriya! I am a sociologist who genuinely loves the subject. I’ve been studying it for over five years, and I still get excited when a theory suddenly makes sense of something happening in the world around us.
I completed my BA in Sociology, finishing with top grades in every module and an award for the second-highest marks in my year. I did my MSc in Political Sociology at LSE, where I earned a Distinction overall and in my dissertation.
Along the way, I have taught and mentored over 70 students, and volunteered as a teacher for children aged 9 to 16. These experiences taught me that every student learns differently, and that confidence matters just as much as knowledge.
I believe a good tutor is someone you feel comfortable asking anything. Every lesson will be shaped around you, your goals and the way you learn best. We’ll take things step by step, and you’ll never be made to feel silly for not understanding something the first time.
I can’t wait to share my love of Sociology with you!

My lessons are designed to make Sociology clear, engaging and exam-ready. I break down complex theories and thinkers, from Marx, Durkheim and Weber to contemporary debates on identity, gender, migration and social movements, into simple steps, then help students apply them to real-world examples.
How I teach:
Every lesson is tailored to the student’s level, goals and exam board. A typical session starts with a quick review of the previous topic, moves on to new content with plenty of discussion and questions, and ends with exam-style practice.
Lesson length:
Lessons are usually 60 minutes. For undergraduate essays, research projects and dissertation support, I offer 90-minute sessions.
Who the lessons are for:
GCSE and A-level Sociology students, undergraduates, and anyone preparing essays or dissertations in Sociology and the social sciences. Lessons are available in person in London or online.
My experience:
I hold an MSc in Political Sociology from the London School of Economics, where I received a Distinction for my dissertation, and a BA in Sociology with a 9.40/10 CGPA and top grades in all 30+ modules. I’ve designed and delivered 20+ training modules for 70+ students in communication, critical thinking and leadership, and taught English, History and Maths to students aged 9 to 16 as a teaching volunteer.
Your first lesson is a chance for us to discuss your goals and build a plan that works for you.
