About Tan
Hi, I’m Tan Meng Wai, a Sin Chew Daily Education Fund scholar who achieved 9A’s in SPM, A+ in SPM Modern Mathematics and A in Additional Mathematics.
I know firsthand that Add Maths is infamous for being one of the easiest subjects to fail in secondary school. Many students study hard but quickly lose confidence because the concepts feel overwhelming and disconnected from standard math. I want to teach because I genuinely want to change that experience for students.
Add Maths doesn’t have to be a subject you dread or fear failing. Having navigated the syllabus and its challenging exam formats myself, I understand exactly where students get stuck, whether it’s weak algebraic foundations or getting lost in multi-step problems. My goal is to be a supportive, patient mentor who rebuilds your core fundamentals, restores your confidence, and shows you that passing and scoring an A is completely achievable with the right guidance.

As a Sin Chew Daily Education Fund Scholar and SPM double A achiever in Modern Mathematics and Additional Mathematics, my goal is to make numbers logical, approachable and stress-free for secondary school students.
My lessons focus on breaking down abstract topics—such as Calculus, Functions and Trigonometry into simple steps rather than relying on rote memorization.
Together, we will:
- Identify and patch foundational algebra and arithmetic weaknesses.
- Practice real exam techniques, training you to structure your working steps precisely to capture maximum method marks (K) and answer marks (N) according to SPM marking schemes.
- Tackle KBAT / HOTS problem-solving questions systematically without panic.
Whether we meet face-to-face at your home or through interactive online sessions, I tailor the pacing entirely to your learning style. I can conduct lessons clearly in English, Malay, or Mandarin to ensure you grasp every concept fully.
