About Shallamar
I am a 41-year-old mother of four, bringing over 15 years of tutoring experience across various subjects and age groups. In addition to my extensive background in education, I hold more than 30 IT certifications—including the Cisco CCNP (Cisco Certified Networking Professional)—and have spent over 25 years working as a Senior Network Engineer. Academically, I have earned a master’s degree with a 3.84 GPA and two bachelor’s degrees, both with perfect 4.0 GPAs, in Computer Science, Information Technology, and Business. I graduated summa cum laude with each degree. I am honored to be a member of several academic societies: Epsilon Delta Pi, Alpha Tau Chapter (since Fall 2004); Alpha Beta Kappa, Kaplan University Delta Zeta Chapter (since October 2006); Golden Key International Honour Society (since December 2009); Iota Sigma Tau (since January 2009); the Kaplan Chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM); and the Future Business Leaders of America Virtual Chapter. My passion for teaching grew out of personal experience. Two of my children required significant academic support at home to keep up with their peers. My oldest daughter, now 25, has had a degenerative hearing loss since birth. Despite this challenge, she attended mainstream public school, worked with a teacher for the deaf and hard of hearing, and I supplemented her education by tailoring her weekly lesson plans to suit her needs. This hands-on approach allowed her to graduate on time with her friends and continue on to college, where I continued to support her learning. My oldest son faced a different set of challenges, including ADHD, behavioral issues, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, and Explosive Anger Disorder. He struggled in the traditional classroom, so I provided extra help at home every night, adapting lessons to fit his unique learning style. Thanks to this individualized support, he is set to graduate next year—a milestone I am incredibly proud of. Teaching my children, especially those who faced the greatest hurdles, showed me just how rewarding it is to help someone grasp something they once thought was beyond their reach. The experience inspired me to continue tutoring others, long after my own children no longer needed academic help.

I work closely with each student to develop a personalized learning plan that takes their unique needs and learning styles into account. My process begins with a quick, straightforward assessment to understand how they process and retain information, and to determine which of the four main learning styles—Visual, Auditory, Read/Write, or Kinesthetic—best suits them, or if they have a blended style that draws from more than one. I use these insights, along with ongoing evaluations of each student’s strengths and areas for growth, to create lesson plans that consistently address their evolving needs. My approach is highly individualized, setting me apart from many other educators. I firmly believe that everyone learns differently, so teaching should be adapted to fit each person’s way of thinking. Learning can sometimes feel overwhelming, but when instruction matches your preferred style, you might find yourself achieving more than you expected. I provide tutoring for teens, young adults, and adults of all ages. My services cover all Middle and High School subjects, core college courses, and IT and Networking at any level.
