About Chanulya
Hi, I am Chan :)
I'm currently in year 11 and I'm 16. I love to teach and maths is a subject that I find quite easy. I have a little brother so I know how to work with kids and I think learning should be fun!
I'm flexible so if you can't do your homework or you forget, don't stress it's okay! Of course we don't want to make it a habit but I get that once in a while, everyone feels a bit tired :) I know having homework can be boring and dreadful but after we talk to your parents, we can certainly make your homework fun or reduce the amount.
I'm not a university professor, and I won’t pretend to be one. What I am is someone who genuinely cares, listens, and explains things in a way that makes sense to students today. I keep it real, I’m easy to talk to, and I’ll never make your child feel judged for not understanding something.

Here is a rough draft of what year level would be doing. Parents and students can suggest different topics if needed.
(You can request more homework if wanted)
Year 6:
- worksheets
- homework (about 30min a week worth)
Year 6 topics:
- Arithmetic and beginner algebra
- Fractions and Decimals
- Measuring
Year 7:
- textbook questions
- worksheets
- homework (1 hour a week worth)
Year 7 topics:
- Intermediate Arithmetic and Algebra questions
- Intermediate Fractions and Decimals
- Intermediate Measuring
- Introducing Graphs and lines (coordinates etc)
- Rates and percentages
-Data and statistics
Year 8:
- text book questions
-homework (1 hr 30 min - 2hrs worth)
Year 8 topics:
- Advanced arithmetic and algebra
-Intermediate-advanced graphing and lines (depends on how well the student does in year 7)
- Advanced rates and percentage
- Advanced data and statistics
- Area and volume of circle, triangle etc
- Advanced fractions (rational numbers etc)
- Geometry
If a parent wants to do harder topics like Pythagoras theorems etc, you can contact me about it and we may be able to change your child's set curriculum. You can always change around different topics from each year level but only after doing a short test to see if the child is able to do the beginner steps required to progress. If I think that a child is doing excellent in a certain topic, after discussing with the parent, I am more than happy to progress the child to a harder version of the topic.
If a parent wants to change the amount of homework the student receives, we can do that but please contact me beforehand. I may suggesting increasing the homework a student is receiving if I think they need more practice but the parent will be notified beforehand and if the student isn't able to do extra homework, more class time or other solutions can be discussed.
All classes will be online through either WebEx or google meet. Years 6-7 will be mostly working on worksheet which will be screen shared with the students. Years 7-8, the textbook questions will also be screen shared. Each student will have a shared doc with me that will have the class date and it will include the classwork completed and the homework set. The homework is to be sent to my email at least 2 days prior to the class day. If you aren't able to, that's okay :) Just make sure that the parent or student sends me an email 2 days prior class.
The textbook used most likely will be Cambridge textbook. The worksheet may be from Khan Academy or other sites. Students may send a pdf of their school textbook if they would prefer working on that. They may also send pdfs of specific questions or worksheet from school they want to work on. Keep in mind, I may not be able to help with some of these but I will be able to help with most.
