About Edward
After graduating from the University of Westminster with a BA (Joint Hons.) in French and German (with distinction in spoken German), I obtained a Postgraduate Certificate of Education in Modern Foreign Languages from King's College, London. I worked as a teacher of Modern Languages in the London Borough of Hillingdon, then moved on to working in Information Technology as a multilingual technical instructor in computer networks, working for FORE Systems, Siemens, and IBM. I have lived and worked in the UK, France, Germany, Austria, and Canada, and have a wealth of experience gained from both multilingual and musical pursuits in those countries, enabling me to leverage my skills as an instructor to teach French and German languages, music arranging and orchestration, and low brass performance at all levels from beginner to advanced, children and adults. I enjoy being able to bring to others a perspective enriched in the local history, geography, food, music, art, and culture of the various countries in which I have lived and worked.

With experience teaching GCSE French and German, I have an in-depth understanding of the demands placed on students to pass examinations in these subjects. I have also lived and worked in France, Canada, and Germany, and am able to offer a perspective on not just the language, but the culture and history. I can offer assistance with spoken and written language from beginner to advanced, including conversational French and German for casual or business use, for students aged 11 and up. In a one-hour lesson, scope exists to cover subject matter in depth, offering insights that shorter lessons cannot cover. As a musician with experience performing on the trombone for over 30 years, as well as arranging music of all styles for orchestra, concert band, and brass ensemble, I have a wealth of knowledge to share to help everyone of all ages from beginner to advanced low brass players on trombone, baritone, euphonium, or tuba, to budding arrangers and orchestrators.
