Dear Parent,

I am very happy to write this letter to sincerely recommend Mr. Zhang Yunconglong, who has taught my son for the past three years.

My son is a 14-year-old child with Asperger’s and a natural talent for drawing. He started learning art at an art institution when he was six, and by the age of eleven, he needed the guidance of a professional teacher through one-to-one lessons.

Given his conscientious nature and the social difficulties associated with his neurodiversity, we needed a teacher who could meet his needs not only in terms of professional artistic and technical ability, but also in terms of aesthetic vision, human understanding and acceptance, and emotional stability.

Fortunately, we found Mr. Zhang.

Over the past three years, we have maintained six hours of professional drawing lessons every week, along with occasional visits to art exhibitions and explorations and hands-on experiments with different ways of presenting artworks.

Under Mr. Zhang’s guidance, my son’s technical skills have improved tremendously, and he has become highly competitive among his peers. At the same time, his emotional state has remained remarkably stable.

Mr. Zhang has become a role model for my son. My son has now decided to apply to an affiliated high school of an art academy and eventually to an art academy itself, with the intention of pursuing art professionally.

We feel incredibly fortunate that our family and our son had the opportunity to meet Mr. Zhang. It is also with some sadness that we have to part ways for a while. Now, I would like to pass this good fortune on to your family and your child.

I sincerely hope that Mr. Zhang will be able to accompany your child on their journey and help them move steadily towards their artistic dreams.

We used to be classmates, so I’ve seen him in action plenty of times and I fully connect with his approach to teaching. He is seriously one of the most patient teachers I’ve ever met. No matter what crazy ideas or mood swings a kid throws his way, he stays totally calm and collected—never gets frustrated. He doesn't force kids into a mold; he just gently guides them step-by-step so they can figure out their own creative style. Finding a teacher who really knows how to guide students with that kind of genuine patience is super rare. I highly recommend taking his classes!
