About Bogdan
My name is Bogdan Gumenyuk. I am a professional saxophonist, composer, producer, and educator with over 20 years of performance and teaching experience in both jazz and classical music.
I hold advanced degrees in Jazz Performance and Jazz Studies from leading institutions in North America and Europe, including McGill University (Canada), The University of the Arts in Philadelphia (USA), and the Glier Institute in Kyiv (Ukraine). I am a Fulbright Scholarship recipient, and my work has been recognized with multiple international awards.
Alongside my performance career, I have served as a guest lecturer and educator at institutions such as McGill University, Indiana University, Concordia University, the Thessaloniki Conservatory in Greece, as well as major conservatories and music academies across Ukraine and Europe.
My teaching philosophy is based on balancing structure and creativity. I focus on building strong fundamentals while helping students develop their own musical voice. Lessons are supportive, motivating, and practical, providing tools that can be applied immediately.
I offer saxophone and woodwind lessons for students of all levels, from beginners to advanced and professional musicians. Lesson topics include jazz improvisation and vocabulary, tone and sound production, technique, jazz theory, classical fundamentals for woodwinds, repertoire, ear training and transcription, composition and arranging, and audition or conservatory preparation.
All lessons are tailored to individual goals, whether you are preparing for university auditions, pursuing a professional career, or simply looking to enjoy making music with confidence. Lessons are available in Montreal and online.
