About Phil

As a seasoned IELTS and TOEFL instructor, I pride myself in giving students the best quality lessons and guiding them every step of the way on their journey to greatness. I am lively and entertaining and my academic expertise guarantees my students succeed in the IELTS and TOEFL tests. Also an aspiring chef and a musician :D

About the lesson

My method consists of diagnosing a student’s strengths and weaknesses during our first free lesson in order to understand their target score, current level, and testing deadline. This initial assessment usually takes around 30 minutes.

After the diagnosis, I create a personalized study plan that includes a weekly lesson schedule, targeted practice, and homework assignments to be completed throughout our time together. Lesson plans can range from just a few hours of focused preparation to several months of study, depending on the student’s current score, goals, and how soon they are taking the SAT.

My SAT lessons focus heavily on the areas that make the biggest difference in a student’s score, including Reading and Writing strategies, grammar, vocabulary in context, question analysis, time management, and Math problem-solving techniques. We also practice how to recognize common SAT question patterns, eliminate incorrect answer choices efficiently, and avoid the traps that frequently cause students to lose points.

These lessons are designed for students aiming for competitive SAT scores for college admissions, including students targeting 1300+, 1400+, 1500+, or higher, but they are equally suitable for students who simply want to improve their current score and feel more confident on test day.

What sets me apart as a tutor is my experience working with more than 150 students preparing for major standardized and proficiency exams. My approach is highly personalized, practical, and focused on helping each student understand not only what the correct answer is, but why it is correct and how to recognize similar questions in the future.

My lessons are fun and lively, and I believe learning works best when you combine the right material, clear communication, consistent practice, and a dash of comedy. The goal is to make sure students are improving their scores while actually enjoying the process and feeling more confident every week.

See you around ;)

First time I met him I knew he was a great teacher, and I think its due to the way he communicates, where he is both funny and entertaining while still very technical. Meaning that in his classes, he is able to transform complex subjects into trouble-free lessons for the students.
In addition, he is a person that is able to build solid relationships with his students, and it is quite common to see them being very grateful for the classes Phil gave, he aspires confidence on the students, and that is truly unique.
To conclude, I strongly recommend Phil as a professional!

At the time I first met Phil, around 2016, he was already teaching, and he has been my reference as a teacher since then. Kind, patient and fun, Phil knows exactly how to approach the subjects and make them look easy and clear. Not only that, he is the most supportive professional I know, being available to solve questions or clear doubts whenever needed. I strongly recommend Phil!
