About James
Hi! My name is James and if you're reading this you probably have a busy and stressful year ahead of you, filled with exams and uncertainty. Believe me, I've been there too and during my time in secondary school I rotated through six different English Literature A level teachers and while in GCSE was taught the wrong syllabus for a year, leading me to cut classes to teach myself, leading to me scoring 100% on all English Literature exams. So, if you're being dragged through a text and being expected to know it inside out by teachers who really don't seem to care in an education system rigged against you, then let me step in and I guarantee you'll be quoting them like they're you're favourite movie. I will help you find your voice to command your argument in every essay you write with zeal and conviction. If my passion has you fired up to start, you know where to find me.
Previous experience:
100% of marks earned on essays across all GCSE and A level exams.
Previous director at local theatre so have experience engaging with texts and plays to understand them, adapt them for the stage and teach cast members their meanings.
Previously tutored GCSE/A level students at my school.

About the lesson

Sessions will be held online with a light atmosphere, looking to discuss literature and writing in an easy, conversational tone (I'm as much a student as you are!).
Will help breakdown texts and help develop a passionate understanding of them through discussion.
No text is beyond my ability or interest! Will happily read and study any text in my own time.
Will help develop essay writing skills including writing analysis and argument by familiarising myself with your exam board and mark schemes.
Lesson length is typically an hour with the initial session/meeting to explore what you want to learn from me as a tutor and plan how many sessions that will take with a quick overview of the texts/essay structures you wish to cover.
