About Joe
I do a character skills club. My philosophy is to not just help students academically in math, but help them develop a positive attitude about every experience, no matter good or bad. The biggest reason students struggle in math or any subject for that matter has to do with unmet expectations associated with fear. I tell my students when you expect things and it doesn’t happen you get upset and frustrated. Instead, I tell my students trade your expectations for appreciation of every moment and your whole life will change for the better. I train students to work on developing this mindset by doing daily exercises.

I use online manipulatives to teach the math and use a variety of differentiated strategies. I always emphasize the why behind the right answer and the wrong behind the wrong answer to move away from wrong habits of thinking. I teach also positive habits of thinking in the form of character skills to develop your confidence.
