About Katie
As for my own personal interest in the subject - I specialise in Shakespeare and Dickens (which is convenient for the current GCSE and Alevel specification). I have tutored during my degree, and have thoroughly enjoyed helping students achieve higher results. One particular student came to me with a hatred for English Literature (particularly struggling with Macbeth). We worked together on the text and developed a system for them to write essays with a systematic approach. This particular student went from scoring 2/3, to getting a 5 in their final exams, and eventually went on to continue English Literature for their Alevel!
(I have been consistently DBS checked since the age of 18, and have experience with a wide age range of children)

My lessons focus on bringing joy back into English Literature. I find my students are often disheartened by their classroom experience of the subject, and consequently think that they're incapable of producing higher marks in their work. As well as ensuring that students master the techniques required to produce high quality work in essays and exams, I also work to give each student a fresh and interesting approach to the subject matter.
Together, we will identify the areas in which the student is struggling most, and then devise a plan to develop those particular skills. Working alongside past papers and the relevant marking scheme will help prepare students for their exams.
