About Dorothy
I have recently returned from Japan after teaching full-time in Yokohama for over a year. I taught a wide range of ages and proficiency levels. I taught basic English lessons, as well as Eiken（英検）and Juken (受験),and Shoei (頌栄女子学院 中学校・高等学校 ）mock exam courses. I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2017 with a double major in English and Japanese. I graduated Magna Cum Laude, with a 3.84 GPA.

I like to teach based on the the specific needs of the student(s). Usually, when I first meet a class or an individual student, I like to get a feel for how proficient they are, then apply both the fundamentals and a creative spin to my teaching method. As a fellow being who also continues to learn and grow in a second language, I understand and sympathize with the difficulties one can face while studying another language. With this, I focus on things that are often overlooked in some classes and textbooks: I go in depth with vocabulary and I provide examples and scenarios when discussing new lessons. I also encourage conversation, because that is an extremely important part of any language, as well as expression and creativity in writing, and other fun methods to make the learning experience both enjoyable and successful.

Details
I do have a last minute cancellation policy. Teaching, as well as learning, is no easy task. I will take the time to find materials for my students and help them progress in their language journeys. This is of course time well spent unless the time spent is for naught. I feel like appointments made and then cancelled last minute is a huge no-go. I will charge a fee if there is a last minute cancellation. I need 48 hours beforehand to know of a cancellation. Thank you. :)
