About Tammie
I graduated from the University of Mary Washington with BLS in creative writing. I also graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Masters in Education.
While I am currently retired from higher education, I still enjoy teaching writing. I have a strong passion and love for writing of all kinds but specialize in academic writing, short fiction, poetry and creative non-fiction.
I will bring this same passion, education and experience to each learning session.

My lessons are individually tailored to student's specific needs and interests through a learning contract. The learning contract is established in collaboration with the student on the first lesson and includes student's goals as well as strategies to overcome the challenges that stand between the student and their learning goals. Student goals include both short term as well as long term learning goals.
Each lesson begins with a review of the previous session's lessons and a discussion of what we will seek to accomplish in the new session.
I am particularly interested in working with students who struggle with writing but am also interested in working with students of any age who have an interest in improving their writing skills whether it be academic writing, personal essays or creative writing.
