About Karen
I have a calm and reassuring approach putting students at their ease so that they can immerse themselves in the language and begin to enjoy hearing themselves progress. I have ten years' teaching experience which includes French, German and EFL and at all levels from age 9 up to adult. I taught English in France during my degree and then for a year in Japan after I graduated. I also taught EFL to young and older adults in summer schools in London. I have taught French and German from beginner to A' level in several different schools in the UK and have achieved excellent results at GCSE. I also tutored on a one to one basis. I have taken time out to raise a family and renovate a house but would now like to combine my two passions of languages and teaching and return to tutoring. I have known Karen Clark since July 1991, when we were both employed as teachers on the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme in Matsumoto, Japan. This Programme is run by the Japanese government. We spent a year together, teaching English at several schools and living in close proximity. We have remained firm friends since this time.
I regard Karen as trustworthy, organized, loyal, patient and totally reliable. I am delighted to provide a reference for her. Karen has looked after my own children on many occasions. She is highly responsible, and is the first person I would turn to in a crisis. In addition, she is motivated, has a wealth of teaching experience and a gift for languages.
