About Grace
With 12 years of tutoring experience, I have had the joy of teaching piano to 150–200 students from different age groups, including high school and college students as well as elderly learners. Teaching is more than a job for me—it is a passion that drives me to help others grow through music. A memorable milestone in my journey was guiding a group of students to complete their first full piano pieces for a community performance. Many of them had never played in front of others before, and watching their confidence shine on stage was one of the proudest moments of my career.
These achievements motivate me to keep giving my best. I believe every student learns differently, so I create lessons that are clear, friendly, and flexible. I focus on helping students understand music, enjoy practice, and feel inspired every step of the way. My goal is to make the piano a place of creativity, comfort, and personal growth for every learner I meet.

My piano teaching methodology is centred on helping students understand music in a simple, practical, and enjoyable way. I use real-life examples and case studies to make piano concepts easier. For instance, I compare finger movement to daily actions like typing or holding objects, and I relate musical phrasing to the way we speak in sentences. These examples help students connect piano playing with their natural habits, making learning smoother and more meaningful. Motivation plays a big role in my lessons. I always make sure students feel supported and encouraged.
I set achievable goals and show them their progress step-by-step. Whether a student is a complete beginner or already experienced, I help them stay inspired and excited about learning. Problem-solving is another important part of my teaching. When students face difficulties—such as tricky rhythms, challenging finger patterns, or understanding sheet music—I guide them through a calm, step-by-step solution process. We try different methods like slow practice, hand-separate practice, pattern recognition, or counting techniques. This not only improves their piano skills but also strengthens their ability to think clearly. Integrity is very important in my teaching approach. I aim to create a learning environment where honesty, respect, and kindness are always present. I give honest feedback that helps the student grow while still keeping them encouraged and confident. Flexibility is essential because every student learns differently. I adjust my teaching style depending on the student’s interests, pace, and musical goals. Some want to play classical music, some enjoy modern songs, and others want to learn chords for songwriting or performance. I adapt each lesson to make it personal and effective. In addition to piano, I also teach connected subjects like music theory, chord building, rhythm practice, and ear training. I use the same real-life, motivating, problem-solving methods to help students gain a full understanding of music. My mission is to guide students towards becoming confident and expressive musicians.
