About Jonathan
Hey there! I am Jonathan and I am from the greater Austin area in Texas. I enjoy biking, watching sports, and everything about science and math. I am currently working on getting my degree in chemical engineering at UT Austin. I have helped more than 20 kids on school-related learning focusing on advanced coursework and SAT as well. After taking 11 APs with all 5s on the exams, I am confident that I can help you achieve your academic goals with my personal experiences. With my lessons, I will ensure that you are able to connect what you learn in the classroom to what you see every day. I always value your experience and understanding of the materials above your academic performance or memorization of the content. I am familiar with tutoring, I have more than 500 hours of experience working with kids from pre-K all the way to high school. I believe that your understanding of the methodology and the reasons behind the contents should always come first, not just memorization. I strive to apply what you learn in the classroom to what you see around you with analogies and cool facts that you won't want to miss. I enjoy connecting with students, not only will I be your tutor, I would love to be your friend as well! A typical lesson plan will encompass going over your school work and the practice questions I've developed just for you. Through how you answer the questions previously, I will then ask you if there are any specific skills and concerns that you might have. I will work with you and make sure you feel confident in your weaker areas. Then, we will move into content (such as slideshow or notes) that I prepare beforehand for you to review and preview any contents that will come up at school. I usually take notes with you, so you will get a copy of the lesson notes to help you review and study by the end of our session. As the session concludes, I will make sure you don't have any other questions and ask you if there are any topics you'd like to review more to put it onto your weekly practice assignment. All my lessons are online and I present the slideshow along with my iPad so you will never be lost on where we are in the content! As your tutor, it is my sole responsibility to teach you how to learn in various subjects. I always aim to connect all the topics you've learned and you will learn together to give you a bigger image of what the subject is all about. I am outgoing and absolutely in love with the subjects I teach, and all I want to do is for you to experience the same joy in learning. Your growth is my biggest motivation. No matter who you are, I will always find ways to connect with you! My lessons are primarily for high school students who want more of a focused yet relaxed learning style. I am not only your tutor, but I am also a friend. All science and math APs won't be a problem for me, and I will try my best to make it not a problem for you. I am also interested in teaching middle school subjects as well!
