About Alexander
I am a recent university graduate with a BA. Arabic was my main academic focus in school along with my major, linguistics. I have a strong grasp of MSA and can use conversational Levantine Arabic with relative ease. I can understand Iraqi, Gulf, and Egyptian (both Masri and Sa'idi) Arabic fairly well but don't have lots of experience with other North African Arabic varieties. I am not Muslim but I can definitely get you started on Qur'anic Arabic if that's what you're interested in. One of my many Arabic interests is also Judeo-Arabic and I love being able to help people who are interested in getting started learning about this often forgotten and underappreciated corner of the Arabic and Jewish literary worlds.

I tailor my lessons to my client, so, once I have an idea of what kinds of skills you want to learn, I can make personalized content that will get you to where you want to go. I have lots of dialectal background knowledge for Arabic (and all of the languages I tutor), so, depending on what variety of Arabic you want to learn, I can help you learn phrases, pronunciations, and grammatical constructions from specific dialect regions (I have most experience with Levantine, Egyptian, Iraqi, and Saudi dialects).
For people who are learning to read and write in Arabic, I use slides to give an overview of pronunciation and shape (with information on pronunciations that are specific to different regions). To teach speaking and listening comprehension, I tend to use a combination of conversation practice and audio/visual exercises for people who are confident and want to learn to speak fluidly, but I try to keep my teaching style flexible so that I can cater the experience to the individual student.
