I recently graduated from University of Strathclyde, with distinction, with a masters degree in Chemical Engineering.
I previously tutored a 6th year pupil in Adv higher maths and chemistry who subsequently met his conditions to study medicine at Glasgow.

I believe the best teaching method is to help the student actually understand the topic/subject, rather than simple memorisation or wrote learning. In my experience once it is properly understood it is much less likely to be forgotten in an exam (or any other time it is required)
