About Priscilla
Hi! My name is Priscilla Li and I am passionate about tutoring and teaching. I've had many, many years of tutoring experience, in a range of subjects such as English, Maths and Critical Thinking / GA. (Yes, I can teach Maths, Critical Thinking / GA, as well as English, to prepare students for OC and Selective examinations). I can also teach English and Maths to Junior high-school students i.e. Year 7 to 10 students. I can cater to the levels of the students and make the content easy to understand, as well as, fun and motivating to learn.
My favourite subject is English, as I enjoy the intricacy, diversity and beauty of language and expression. I also appreciate the concreteness of Maths, and find joy in solving problems, as well as understanding different mathematical concepts. I am also a huge fan of general ability (GA) / critical thinking / thinking skills problems, including number pattern, spatial-thinking, verbal and non-verbal reasoning skills questions. It is always satisfying to be able to understand what you are learning, thoroughly and in-depth, as it gives you a sense of accomplishment.
I can prepare resources such as worksheets for the students, by year-level, so that they can work through them with me in the lesson, OR the students can bring their school-work to the lesson, so that we can work on their schoolwork together. It's highly flexible and adaptable depending on the needs of the students!

My personal approach to private tutoring is student-centred, based on clear and easy-to-understand explanations. For English, I teach by pinpointing and highlighting main ideas, teaching students how to summarize, draw conclusions, and find answers for reading comprehension. I also teach students how to plan story ideas and produce quality essay & creative writing. For Maths and / or GA, I teach by breaking down the question into smaller digestible parts, visual drawings, as well as flexible and creative approaches to solving problems, from simple to challenging.
I also cater to the students' levels and then offer them different approaches to solving questions, as well as potential challenge questions, to further test and build up their existing knowledge or skills.
The lesson structure can consist of a half-half (30 mins of English, then 30 mins of Maths), or a full hour of English / Maths / Critical Thinking, GA subjects. Again, it is dependent on the students' preferences!
