About Kam
I am a Physics PhD, International Physics Olympiad bronze medalist (2007), and a specialist in Quantum Computing with 7+ years of experience teaching Physics, Advanced Calculus, Mathematics, and Quantum Computing to students from high school to PhD level.
I completed my undergraduate studies in Taiwan and earned my PhD in Physics from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. My research career spans Asia, Europe, the US, and Australia, including postdoctoral positions at the University of Macau, SUNY Buffalo (USA), and currently the University of Palermo (Italy), where I work in quantum machine learning. I also hold upcoming research appointments at Université de La Réunion (France) and have served as a visiting scholar at LMU Munich, the University of Western Australia, and University College London (UCL), where I will join as conjoint faculty.
As head coach of the Macau IPhO national team, I trained students who won 2 gold medals and multiple silver/bronze medals, with many later admitted to top universities such as UC Berkeley and UCL.
My research focuses on quantum computing and quantum optics. I am the author of the Springer book Coherent States: Insights into Quantum Mechanics and Applications: Springer: (concealed information) Amazon: (concealed information)
My work has been featured with a cover story in Physics Today: (concealed information)
I also serve as a reviewer for more than 20 international journals, including NJP Quantum Information, EPJ Quantum Technology, Physical Review A, and New Journal of Physics. Full publication list: (concealed information)
I specialize in helping:
• High school students excel in AP Physics, IB Math/Physics, SAT/ACT, and Calculus
• University students strengthen STEM foundations, analytical skills, and research abilities
• Graduate students (Master’s/PhD) with quantum computing, quantum machine learning, Qiskit projects, LaTeX paper editing, and thesis coaching
With a multicultural background and extensive international research experience, I provide high‑quality, personalized online lessons to ambitious students worldwide. My teaching combines research‑level insight with clear, structured explanations to help you master difficult concepts and achieve academic excellence—wherever you are.

KAM has a remarkably strong foundation in mathematics and physics, which naturally equips KAM with excellent logical reasoning and analytical skills. KAM is able to grasp abstract concepts quickly and break down complex problems into clear, structured steps that others can easily follow. KAM’s thinking is both rigorous and precise, consistently demonstrating a level of care and attention to detail that brings out nuances others may overlook.
Beyond academic strengths, KAM approaches explanation and communication with patience and clarity. KAM adapts teaching methods to the learner’s level, ensuring that difficult ideas become accessible and intuitive. This combination of intellectual depth, thoughtful problem‑solving, and meticulous work habits makes KAM exceptionally well‑suited for tutoring. I believe KAM possesses not only strong academic capability but also the maturity and potential to become an outstanding tutorIf you’re looking for a physics tutor who actually makes the tough concepts click, I can’t recommend Kam enough. As Kam’s best friend, I’ve had a front-row seat to their brilliance, but more importantly, I’ve watched firsthand how naturally and thoughtfully they help others learn.
Kam has spent years deep in theoretical physics, with a real focus on quantum research. This isn’t just textbook knowledge they’re regurgitating—they’ve spent years wrestling with complex problems, reading research, and figuring out the “why” behind the equations. Because of that, they don’t just teach you formulas; they show you how physicists actually think.
What really makes Kam special, though, is how they teach. They’re incredibly patient, endlessly curious, and create a relaxed, judgment-free space where it’s completely okay to ask “basic” questions, get stuck, or take a wrong turn first. Instead of just handing you the answer, Kam walks you through the reasoning step by step until it truly makes sense to *you*. Whether you’re just starting with introductory mechanics, grinding through a tough midterm, or finally tackling quantum theory, they’ll adapt to your pace and meet you exactly where you are.
If you want to learn physics from someone who genuinely understands it, explains it clearly, and actually cares about your progress, Kam is your person. Trust them to guide you, and you’ll walk away not just with better grades, but with real confidence in your own ability to think through physics problems.I’ve known Kam for nearly 20 years, beginning as Kam’s university calculus instructor and later as an academic peer. Kam stood out early on—earning near-perfect marks in my advanced calculus course and consistently demonstrating exceptional analytical ability, precision, and intellectual depth.
Kam has since built an extraordinary academic and teaching career. As a Physics PhD and International Physics Olympiad medalist, Kam brings a rare combination of theoretical expertise and pedagogical clarity. Kam’s tutoring spans high school to PhD level, with specialties in quantum computing, calculus, and LaTeX editing. Kam’s students benefit from a global research background and a multicultural teaching style that adapts to diverse learning needs.
Kam’s approach is rigorous, personalized, and empowering. Whether guiding high schoolers through AP Physics or mentoring graduate students on quantum machine learning and thesis writing, Kam fosters mastery through structured feedback and research-level insight. Kam’s commitment to excellence and inclusive education makes them an outstanding tutor for ambitious learners across the US and beyond.
I wholeheartedly recommend Kam to any student seeking elite-level support in Physics, Mathematics, or academic writing.I have known Dr. Kam as a research collaborator for several years. He holds a Ph.D. in Physics from Hong Kong and possesses an exceptionally strong foundation in all major areas of undergraduate physics — including classical mechanics, electromagnetism, quantum mechanics, and statistical physics — as well as in engineering mathematics and linear algebra.
What truly distinguishes Kam is his remarkable ability to explain complex physical concepts with clarity and precision. His writing and communication skills are outstanding; he can take highly technical ideas and present them in a way that is both accessible and engaging to students. This rare talent makes him an excellent teacher, especially for those who wish to build a deep and intuitive understanding of physics and mathematics.
I wholeheartedly recommend Kam to any student seeking a trustworthy, patient, and insightful tutor. His expertise and teaching style will undoubtedly inspire confidence and genuine understanding in his students.View more recommendations
