About Kirsten
I am a qualified teacher and dyslexia specialist with over 20 years of experience working with children, young people and adults. Throughout my career I have taught in mainstream and specialist settings, supported learners with a wide range of additional needs and worked with students from primary age through to GCSE, A Level and adult education.
My qualifications include a PGCE, a Master's degree in Specific Learning Difficulties from University College London and Level 7 qualifications in dyslexia teaching and assessment. I am a Professional Member of the British Dyslexia Association and a Full Member of PATOSS.
Alongside tutoring, I work as a specialist assessor and have experience as a GCSE and A Level History examiner. This enables me to combine subject knowledge with an understanding of how examinations are assessed and marked. I teach English, History, literacy, study skills and provide specialist support for dyslexia and other additional learning needs.

Not all learners benefit from the same approach to teaching. As a qualified teacher and dyslexia specialist with over 20 years of experience, I work with learners who need teaching that reflects their individual strengths, needs and goals.
Lessons are shaped around the learner rather than a fixed programme. Difficult concepts are broken down into manageable steps, strategies are adapted where needed, and teaching is adjusted in response to progress. Whether the focus is English, History, study skills or specialist support for dyslexia and additional learning needs, the aim is to develop understanding rather than simply complete tasks.
