About Shannon
Hi, I’m Shannon! I am a recent qualified teacher (QTS) with a PGCE from Cambridge University. For the past eight years, I’ve been helping students bridge the gap between where they are and where they want to be. My tutoring journey began with tutoring A-level Biology and Chemistry, alongside foundational GCSE Mathematics and Algebra.
Over the years, my passion evolved. Alongside academia, I began working with neurodivergent students who became chronically disengaged with education. With this, came supporting students in finding their spark, rebuilding their confidence and successfully re-integrating them into mainstream schools.
My Approach: Inquiry, Oracy & Personalization
I don't believe in passive learning or dry lecturing. My sessions are centred around oracy, active discussion, and inquiry-based learning. I use personalised and adaptive teaching techniques that meet students exactly where they are.
How does this look in practice? I weave your child’s interests and passions into our lessons. Whether they love gaming, sports, or art, I use tailored analogies to uncover the science behind what they love! By building a strong, trusting relationship and focusing on deep understanding rather than rote memorisation, I help students overcome anxiety and find genuine motivation and love for science.

How It Works
1. The Initial Consultation (Always Free)
Our first session (up to one hour) is entirely free of charge. This is a relaxed opportunity for us to meet, discuss your current goals, identify your specific needs, and map out a tailored plan of action together.
2. Lesson Formats & Availability
Following our initial consultation, lessons are billed on an hourly basis (£40.00 per hour).
My Teaching Philosophy
Getting the grades you want is incredibly important, but true academic success goes beyond memorising facts and mark schemes. I want you to develop the critical thinking skills that enable you to answer any question on the exam, whilst setting you up for success to feel empowered and confident as a young scientist!
To achieve this, my lessons focus heavily on positive reinforcement, oracy, and active discussion. By getting to know your unique learning style, I carefully scaffold (structure) my support so you can confidently tackle complex concepts. We will explore the "why" behind the science, building your independent problem-solving skills along the way.
