Lessons will be personalized and targeted to your child’s needs while building upon their many strengths. Lessons will follow a consistent and structured approach comprising of 5 key areas:
1. Warm up/game
2. Fluency skills
3. Explicit instruction focusing on new concepts
4. Independent work with supports
5. Summary
The structure of the lessons will help each child:
• Build on their knowledge of number
• improving fluency skills
• developing problem-solving skills
• building confidence and enjoyment in math.
As a qualified teacher I have access to rich learning resources that will benefit each child at whatever stage of their learning - supporting their learning needs and extending where necessary.
Simply, a child that clearly demonstrates understanding, fluency, problem-solving and reasoning are seen as mathematically proficient learners. My goal is to not only help children find the right answer but support them in understanding the math, choosing efficient strategies, explaining their thinking and applying their learning to new, complex problems.
Tutoring sessions can be online or face-to-face. The latter is preferred but this is dependent on you, the parents (and the child).
