About Anderson Guitar Tuition

Elite Guitar Tuition: 18+ Years of Mastery & Professional Pedagogy
Music and high-level performance are my life’s work. With over 18 years of experience as a guitarist and a teaching career spanning back to 2014, I provide a learning experience that bridges the gap between creative passion and professional-grade technique.

Whether you are looking to ace your first Rockschool grade or are aspiring to become a professional musician, my goal is to provide the structured mentorship you need to reach your full potential.

Why Study With Me?
Proven Results: Since 2014, I have successfully guided students through the Rockschool curriculum and mentored many who have gone on to work as professional musicians.

Expert Pedagogy: I currently work within a Secondary School, which keeps me at the forefront of modern educational practices. I don’t just teach songs; I develop bespoke learning resources and effective strategies tailored to how you individually process information.

Technique & Artistry: My personal commitment to performing at a very high standard means you will learn the nuances of tone, timing, and stagecraft that only come from nearly two decades of dedicated practice.

A Premium Studio Experience
I believe the environment is key to progress. I operate from a professional home studio designed to provide a high-end experience regardless of where you are located:

Online Learners: Experience crystal-clear, high-definition audio and multiple camera angles. You get the quality of a professional broadcast in the comfort of your own home—no more struggling with laptop microphones.

In-Person Learners: Benefit from professional-quality recordings of your playing. We use these recordings to analyse your technique and track your progress. You will even leave the session with a digital copy of your performance to reflect on between lessons.

Your Journey Starts Here
From your first chord to advanced fretboard mastery, I provide the tools, the tech, and the professional insight to help you succeed.

My Teaching Philosophy: Structured, Professional, and Student-Centered
With a PostGCE for Young People and Adult Specialists from Newcastle College, my approach to guitar tuition is built on formal educational science. I don’t just "show you how to play"; I use proven pedagogical methods to ensure you understand the why and how behind every note.

By blending professional teaching standards with real-world performance experience, I offer a curriculum that is both academically rigorous and creatively fulfilling.

The Anatomy of My Lessons
Every session is designed to be clear, instructive, and high-impact. I move away from the "random song" approach and instead provide:

Micro-Goals for Macro-Success: Every lesson concludes with a specific, achievable goal. This ensures you leave every session feeling a sense of accomplishment and clear direction for your practice.

Bespoke Lesson Planning: No two students are the same. We will work together to design an Individual Learning Plan (ILP). This roadmap is tailored specifically to your aspirations—whether that’s mastering jazz fusion, passing Grade 8, or simply playing your favourite songs for friends.

Scaffolded Learning: Drawing on my professional training, I "scaffold" complex techniques—breaking them down into manageable steps so you never feel overwhelmed, but always feel challenged.

Advanced Learning Resources
Because of my background in Secondary Education, I utilize a variety of modern tools to help you progress faster:

Custom-Built Resources: You will have access to high-quality worksheets, fretboard diagrams, and backing tracks that I have developed specifically to address common learning hurdles.

Reflective Practice: We don't just play; we review. By using the professional recordings from my studio, we analyse your performance together, allowing you to develop an "ear" for your own improvement.

Who Is This For?
Young People: Providing the structure and encouragement needed to build a lifelong love for music.

Adult Specialists: Tailoring technical challenges for those who want to dive deep into theory, composition, or advanced performance.

Find out more about Anderson Guitar Tuition

  • When did you first develop a passion for music and your favourite instrument?

I was in secondary school when I first started to learn the guitar and I was immediately hooked. I learnt everything my guitar teacher gave me and anything else I could get my hands on. Then when I attended College, that was when I began to flourish. Being around wonderful teachers and peers, learning about modern music techniques and technology; I knew that I did not want to be anything other than a musician.
  • Is there a particular type of music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?

My favourite genre of music is Progressive Rock/Metal. Bands like Dream Theater, Haken, Tesseract and Steve Vai have inspired me to progress further on the guitar and they continue to release new music. Bands and artists in this genre have excellent songwriting skills with wonderful lyrics and melodies while having awesome guitar riffs and solos.
  • Explain to us the most difficult or riveting course you could personally give to a student of music.

I feel that the Application of Music Theory is the best and most interesting course I can give to a student as it allows them to better understand their instrument, further explore music and being able to communicate with other musicians. Music Theory can be daunting at first, however, starting with some small concepts like Rhythm notation and intervals, students will start to visualize the patterns in music.
  • What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?

I think violin could be very difficult to master. The violin is a delicate instrument, and the notes are spaced quite close together, also keeping to in tune is difficult. However, I intend to continue to learn the violin when I have the time.
  • What are your keys to success?

Achieving Success all depends on the individual and how they define it. Success could be learning a famous riff or mastering a technique or even playing a song all the way through without mistakes. However, an individual defines success, I feel that being motivated, passionate and disciplined to improve yourself every day and practice whenever you can; will allow you to achieve your success.
  • Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favourite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.

To be honest, I do not know. I have met various bands and artists over my years working in music industry and I always find them to be "down to Earth" and passionate people. I would love to meet John Petrucci, Mattias IA Eklundh and Steve Vai as these individuals are passionate and dedicated to themselves as artists and they continue to inspire to be a better musician and artist.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to music or your days at music school.

While I was studying at Newcastle College, we started a new assignment where we were put into new bands to write music inspired by Shakespeare's Seven Stages of Man. When we started, I went to the rehearsal room I was assigned but on one was there and rather than waiting for someone, I begin to compose for the assignment. When the Tutor came round to check on everyone, he found me in an empty room and asked, "where is everyone?", I simply did not know, and he went to check something out. He came back with some other students and said, "this is now your band". From then on, I knew if I wanted to achieve my passion that I am going to be the driving force of anything I do.
  • What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?

I define myself as a modern musician, which means that I do not just play the guitar. I write, record and produce music, design and create artwork and promote myself through events and social media. I have been able to adapt these skills in my work and I am constantly learning and developing my technique and teaching style. I am developing a student curriculum which will get students playing guitar immediately while learning Music Theory and Language to better their understanding of Music.
