About Maryam
I am a qualified medical doctor (MBBS) with a strong academic foundation in mathematics, chemistry, and biochemistry. My medical training and diverse clinical experience have equipped me with analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and the ability to explain complex topics in a clear, structured way. I have worked with learners from GCSE to university level, including medical and nursing students, and have a proven ability to adapt my teaching style to different needs. Why I Want to Teach: I am passionate about helping students build confidence in science and mathematics, not just to pass exams, but to truly understand and enjoy the subjects. During my own academic and medical journey, I learnt that the right guidance can transform challenging topics into engaging, achievable goals. Teaching allows me to share this approach, inspire curiosity, and support learners in reaching their full potential. My Approach to Tutoring & Teaching Techniques & Methodology: I believe in making complex concepts simple, relatable, and easy to remember. My approach combines: Concept clarity first – breaking topics into manageable parts before tackling problems Interactive learning – encouraging questions, discussions, and real-world examples Visual aids & mnemonics – diagrams, flowcharts, and memory techniques for better retention Practice-based reinforcement – plenty of worked examples, quizzes, and exam-style questions Tailored pacing – adjusting the lesson speed and depth based on each student’s strengths and gaps Typical Lesson Length: Most lessons are 60 minutes, which allows for thorough explanation and practice without overwhelming the student. For intensive revision or complex topics, 90-minute sessions are available. Qualifications & Experience: I am a qualified medical doctor (MBBS) with a strong academic background in science and mathematics. My studies and clinical training have given me an in-depth understanding of Maths, Chemistry, and Biochemistry at both theoretical and applied levels. I have taught students from GCSE up to university level, including medical and nursing undergraduates.
