About Maria
I have a teaching degree in Portuguese and English Languages by the University of Aveiro and at the moment I am finishing my Masters in Portuguese Language as Second or Foreign Language by the University of Porto.
I am a qualified and experienced European Portuguese tutor and I am currently working on a freelance basis. I have taught students of all ages and levels, including GCSE, and I am really passionate about teaching Portuguese.
From 2011 to 2013 I taught Portuguese as a foreign language in East Timor, Asia, for the Portuguese and East Timorese Governments. After 2014 I have been teaching across London and online.
All courses are specifically tailored to student(s) needs and communication goals, especially if you are looking for a one-to-one.

I like guiding students through their learning process allowing them to really understand the Portuguese language as a meaningful communication tool embodied in significant cultural aspects.

Perfect! Maria is an excellent tutor. She took a lot of time to understand my motivation for learning Portuguese, how much external practice I'll be getting and other language experience to tailor the sessions to my needs. She keeps the lessons fun while explaining the intricacies of the language and rationale for grammatical structure. Looking forward to the next lesson!

Maria offers a thorough and well-planned service. I really enjoyed getting to know her as well as improving my Portuguese language skills. We did Zoom video calls and she uses a combo of online tools and the activity books so it helps with learning. We discussed my goals and created a plan but she was also super flexible when scheduling our sessions. I was able to hold basic conversations with Portuguese friends on different topics after each lesson.
Easy and simple to learn Portuguese. Excellent professional. Charismatic and dedicated teacher.
