About Sacha
I am a recently qualified secondary English teacher with a degree and a masters in English Studies. I have a lot of experience working with young people as I was a tutor and learning mentor prior to starting my teacher training. As a tutor, I supported students from 4 - 16 in maths and English using computer programs that helped them to better understand the subjects and make progress. As a learning mentor, I supported students in the run up to their GCSE's by going through texts, mark schemes, essays, and key quotations. Additionally, I provided advice on their life after school and the different paths available for further education.
I have led multiple creative writing classes with one garnering local media coverage when used to support a creative writing competition to promote the renovation of a dilapidated castle that was being restored.

When teaching I like to start by understanding the person that I am teaching. Who are you? What are you interested in? And most importantly, how can I help you make progress? My approach to teaching is to make sure that the person I am teaching recognises that I am there to help them and that by communicating with me we can work together to make progress. I firmly believe in providing the learner with the tools to help build their understanding, whether that is through explanations, examples, practicals, or physical activities. But, the most important part of my teaching is giving the learner the time to apply what they have learned and preferably teach it back to me.
I understand that everyone learns differently and at different paces and I will take my time to figure out the best practices for you. If you need longer in an area, I will find different ways to make it more understandable or fun. My aim is to ensure that you can leave a session feeling ready and confident to apply your learning and tackle any situations that may have previously been daunting.
Additionally, I can support with exam technique, revision and stress.
