About Shelley
I am so enthusiastic about my students. As a teacher, I poured so much time into my lessons and my print-rich classroom. You are not just a student to me, I take some time to connect with you personally so that I can understand you for who you are, and your learning style. I have always had good connections with all my students, and it always enhanced the learning experience.
I have been teaching for 11+ years, with some tutoring on the side. I studied Chemistry and then teaching. I am also extremely creative so my lessons sometimes take a different turn, but still helping you to understand the concept. Your success and confidence is my top priority.

My approach is first to identify gaps in your knowledge, and address those directly by breaking down complex concepts into simple manageable steps, and only proceed once you fully understand. I believe in making the content more relatable for the learner, depending on their age and exposure.
What makes me unique is my combination of subject expertise and student support coaching experience. I focus not only on improving marks, but also on building confidence, reducing overwhelm, and teaching learners how to make notes and study effectively. My experience in online education also means I know how to keep lessons engaging, focused, and productive.
I am proficient in English - it is my home language and have taught the language for 11+ years.
A typical lesson starts with questions. I will ask you questions based on the topic to gauge your understanding. I will check if you know what the meanings of keywords are and then proceed with the lesson. I will sometimes have practical lessons, depending on the content, so that you engage better.
My lessons are mostly aimed at learners in Grades 4-9 who struggle with English, Math, Natural Sciences, and Technology
