About Joan
Hi, I’m Joan, born in Spain, now in Chicago. I’m quadrilingual (Spanish, Catalan, English, Italian) and a Biotechnology graduate who worked in pediatric cancer research and later at Deloitte. I’ve also been a youth counselor/monitor for ages 6–17, building safe, positive spaces where confidence grows fast. I’m currently studying for my Master’s in Business Analytics at DePaul, and in the meantime I share everything I know through a tailored learning approach designed around your child’s unique way of learning so they don’t just aim for A’s, they also retain and truly understand concepts in ways that fit their cognitive profile. Living with dyslexia and ADHD shaped my purpose: I wish more teachers had adapted to how I learn. With your child, I use strength-based, personalized strategies to turn challenges into momentum and help them excel beyond obstacles.

Adaptable, strength-based lessons for ages 6–17 in Chicago: I tailor every session to your child’s learning style especially supportive for dyslexia/ADHD so concepts aren’t just memorized but truly understood and retained. I cover homework support, study skills (planning, note-taking, test prep), executive function (organization, time management), science enrichment with clear step-by-step explanations, and language practice in Spanish/Catalan/Italian. My approach blends personalized goals and pacing with multi-modal explanations (visual, verbal, hands-on), short focused activities with movement or breaks to maintain attention, retrieval practice and spaced review to lock in learning, and simple systems like checklists and planners kids can use independently. I provide concise parent updates, measurable goals, and periodic check-ins to keep progress visible and collaborative
