About Jessica
I am a current senior biology and chemistry and middle years science and mathematics teacher. I have experience teaching the QCAA syllabus for biology, chemistry and general mathematics as well as ACARA science and mathematics years 7-10 for the last 10 years. I am a mother of two beautiful little girls and have a passion for teaching, especially science and biology. I have lived in South East Queensland for most of my life and studied at Griffith University.

I have worked in both public and private Queensland schools for 10 years teaching middle years science and mathematics, senior biology and chemistry and general mathematics. I also work for the QCAA as a confirmer and external exam marker and I am therefore well aware of the content and assessment in the senior sciences and mathematics. In addition to this I work for Griffith University as a lead tutor for their year 12 Academic Bootcamps preparing for external assessment in biology. I have a bachelor of biomedical science and a graduate diploma of education- secondary. My tutoring sessions can be 1 to 2 hours and consist of preparing for internal or external assessments, techniques for retaining information, problem solving and/or resources to practice certain key objectives. I am also happy to do small group tutoring. I believe students learn best through repetition and practice which builds confidence. Knowledge of content is important, however, it is also important to understand cognitive verbs so that a question is appropriately and sufficiently answered as part of internal and external assessment. My lessons therefore would consist of both help with responding to questions and understanding of content. My experience teaching grades 7 to 12 has taught me that all students learn differently and it is difficult to cater to all learning styles in a classroom environment. Tutoring with me is a great way for students to receive personalised assistance not just for the next exam or assignment but to understand the way they learn and how to succeed in future learning ventures.
