For intermediate students my approach would be to find a project that really interests the student and work through creating it and in the process improve their Python skills. For beginners my approach is to start from the ground up (i.e. tools and IDE) and work towards getting them familiar with basic concepts. My lessons would start with an introductory 30 minute and would usually be 45 minutes. My lessons are geared for at least high school level students.
