About Ellie

I am Ellie, I have just completed the International Baccalaureate at ACS Hillingdon and I will begin university in September, studying psychology. I studied Maths, English and Biology throughout GCSE and then at the IB level (equivalent to A-level) and therefore I have a strong understanding of all three subjects as well as key revision strategies that I used throughout my time at school. I have also tutored students in KS3 and GCSE maths, obtaining good reviews.

About the lesson

My lessons are targeted at both KS3 and GCSE students. Within a 60 minute lesson I aim to cover any topics that the student has difficulty with by collaboratively working through complex problems, using visual diagrams and revising any key skills and information.

As a student myself, I understand the importance of finding a learning method that suits the needs of the student and therefore much of my teaching style will be dependent on each student and how they learn.

Additionally, my teaching style will vary in regards to each subject being taught. Whilst biology may centre more around the use of diagrams and text, Maths tends towards problem-solving and English towards annotation and diagrams.

In order to gain an understanding of the needs and requirements of each student, this is how the first lesson will be planned:
1. Introduction, 5-10 minutes
2. Initial test to gain an understanding of the students strengths and weaknesses, 25-30 minutes
3. Discussion regarding the test, collaborative problem-solving of any difficult questions, 20 minutes
4. Conclusion, any feedback regarding the lesson, an agreement of a timing and day to meet further 10 minutes,
