About Janine
I am extremely passionate about teaching and a dedicated educator for life. My philosophy on teaching is to harbor a space that is rigorous yet compassionate, instructive yet conversational, demanding yet flexible and adaptive. It is important to me that, in a modern teaching context, multiple creative modes of instruction are employed.
I am a young-at-heart instructor (elder millennial) so I recognize what works for "modern" students; for instance I recognize that many are digital natives and need an instructor that gets that. It is necessary to use the internet mediums, even AI to understand material, which is key to my instruction.
Finally, immense respect for my students is a cornerstone of how I mentor and tutor students. We work together - even learn from each other - to ensure mastery of material. I really endeavor to make it fun, too!

I am used to offering individual attention on several psychology topics, both to my own students and undergraduates in research labs. I have broad experience in "real world" psychology research as well, and I'm even passionately working on a textbook! My work, and my teaching, often focuses on underserved communities and updated, modern psychology topics (such as multicultural lenses and intersectionality). I am told that I am very enthusiastic about what I do as well, and I am happy to provide specific reviews from my current and former student. I make psychology fun!
