About Mark
My passion for programming grew from a fascination with creating practical solutions from logical ideas. I earned a B.Sc in Computer Applications, followed by an M.Sc in Software Development, where I mastered both theoretical and applied aspects of programming. Over the past 9 years, I have guided students at different levels, helping them gain clarity, confidence, and problem-solving skills. I teach with empathy, clarity, and patience, customising explanations to fit each learner’s pace and style. I focus on step-by-step reasoning, hands-on exercises, and real-world examples so students understand why code behaves as it does. Many learners who start uncertain gradually develop independence, creativity, and confidence in programming. Outside teaching, I engage with emerging technologies, personal coding projects, and continuous learning to enhance my teaching and keep it relevant. Teaching programming is immensely rewarding because it allows me to empower students with the technical and logical skills needed to succeed academically and professionally.

Programming becomes more approachable when learners understand how logical steps evolve into functional solutions. In my lessons, I guide students through variables, loops, conditionals, functions, algorithms, data structures, and object-oriented concepts, using structured explanations that prioritise understanding over memorisation. I emphasise problem-solving, reasoning, and debugging as foundational skills. Lessons are tailored to the learner’s experience level. Beginners explore basic syntax, control flow, and simple programs through guided exercises. Intermediate learners develop modular design, logical thinking, and debugging proficiency. Advanced learners focus on optimisation, project management, software architecture, and complex problem-solving. Hands-on practice, discussion, and feedback are integral to every session. Programming lessons also cultivate creativity, persistence, and analytical reasoning. Students develop confidence in their ability to troubleshoot and refine solutions independently. My goal is to help learners become independent, capable, and enthusiastic programmers who can tackle real-world challenges.
