About Mark
I am a Professor of History with a very wide knowledge of history in chronological and thematic terms. I teach history in higher education and I'm a governor at a primary school giving me a deep and rounded engagement with teaching and learning at various levels. I can teach at GCSE, A Level and degree level in history and english, assist with personal statements for University applications and provide feedback for essays within 24 hours. I take a student-centred approach, tailoring my lessons to individual needs and styles in order to encourage good attainment. I nurture understanding through the interests of the student. Often history relates to real-world events and situations and I use these to foster interest and engagement. Core facts and concepts are used to help students remember and, ultimately, master the material. I offer tutorials focused on essays, presentations, dissertations, exams, and broader guidance on learning objectives at a variety of levels. I set formative work to build towards good performance in assessments. Most of all studying should be fun and nourishing and generating those feelings ensures better outcomes.
