About Xena
I am a singing tutor with more than 4 years of experience and a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Vocal Performance. I work with students of all levels, including school singers, college performers, and adult or professional vocalists. My teaching centres on musical theatre and Broadway performance, where singing is inseparable from storytelling and character work. I guide students in acting through song, helping them make strong interpretive choices while maintaining vocal clarity. Stage presence is a key focus, and I help singers feel confident and expressive in performance settings. I specialise in belt technique, ensuring students learn power safely and effectively. Vocal agility is also emphasised, particularly for roles requiring fast emotional or stylistic shifts. My strengths include ear training, harmony, improvisation, and music theory, which I incorporate naturally into lessons. I believe these skills deepen musical understanding and confidence. I am committed to nurturing each student’s unique voice rather than forcing a single sound. Lessons are interactive, encouraging, and built around healthy technique. My approach to teaching singing focuses on communication and emotional truth. Singing is about sharing a message, not just making sound. I guide students through lyric interpretation to understand meaning deeply. Emotional connection is built slowly and safely. Storytelling through singing is practised in every lesson. I help singers shape phrases that support the story. Connecting with an audience is always part of the process. Authentic expression is encouraged at every level. Technique supports freedom and clarity. I work especially well with expressive musical theatre, including Fiddler on the Roof and The Music Man. I dedicate time to refining how singers move listeners emotionally. Lessons are supportive and motivating. Singers gain confidence and truly embody their songs.
