About Henna
My journey through education and my work life has made me realise that pursuing a career in tutoring is something I am longing to experience. My enthusiasm for tutoring revolves around an ethos of making a difference in the lives of others through infuential teaching. I have shown commitment to this, through my involvement in a well-known charity organization called ‘Reading Matters’ and worked alongside the SEN departments across Kirklees. Supporting children who have Special Educational Needs such as those with dyslexia, autism and those who have English as a second language. I have supported adults and children reach their potential and suceed in their career and study goals. Such encounters have made me realise that teaching is not only possessing subject knowledge but also having several abilities such as patience, commitment, ability to differentiate competence and possessing an overall sense of respect.
My degree in English Language and Linguistics has an undeniable link to Secondary Education, which corresponds to the national curriculum. During the course of my degree, I have taken several modules which have all prepared me on how to write coherently, equipped me with the knowledge of text analysis, the ability to read, reflect and critique. To enhance my subject knowledge I have opted to complete a Masters in English language and Linguistics. For a tutor, possessing skills that students learn to acquire is essential to provide an effective teaching environment. In addition to this, I am competent in many other subjects that I have supported many students with including, Maths, Urdu and Science.
I am able to apply my skills and knowledge practically in a classroom environment and teach students ranging from KS1-KS3. My responsibilities as a tutor include delivering effective lessons, teaching mixed abilities, setting out individual educational plans, recording areas of student improvement and progress each week.
