About Tyra
My name is Tyra and I'm 29 years old and I have been playing and studying music in various shapes and forms for 15 years now. I work part time in a record store and venue, and part time as a session bass player. I have been teaching bass for a few years now and I find it equally enjoyable teaching and learning from my students about new music and what inspires them. I currently play bass in my own band Junodef as well as professionally for Mount Kimbie, and have been touring Europe and the US with them for the last year and a half, and played shows like Glastonbury, Webster Hall in New York and Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles.

I can take on students of any age, with a skill level ranging from complete beginner to beginner/intermediate level. My main focus is on pop/rock and alternative music. I tailor my lessons to every specific student and can focus on either music theory and different playing techniques, or take a more relaxed approach and focus on learning by playing whichever songs and genres my students like. My lessons are always 1 on 1 and can be anywhere between 30min to 1h, depending on the student's preference, and they will be held in my studio space in Haringey. I have studied music with a focus on bass and live performance at Swedish college and at The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance here in London.
