About Spiky
I am a director and acting tutor with a passion for storytelling and a commitment to truthful, dynamic performances. With extensive experience in the theatre industry, including directing successful productions such as Maar, Dora and working with prestigious companies like the Jamie Lloyd Company and Donmar Warehouse, I bring a wealth of knowledge to my teaching. I’ve also worked in assistant stage management at the National Theatre, giving me a well-rounded understanding of the creative process from all angles. I want to teach because I believe in the power of acting to inspire, challenge, and transform. Acting isn’t just about performing—it’s about understanding humanity, connecting with others, and expressing truth. I want to help emerging performers discover their unique voice, build confidence, and learn to deliver authentic, compelling performances. I’m passionate about getting to know each student as an individual, finding out who they are and what characters they naturally connect with. By understanding each performer’s strengths and areas for growth, I can tailor my teaching to help them explore their full potential. I also believe in nurturing a positive mindset towards acting and the industry, encouraging students to take risks and experiment while developing strong technical skills. Above all, I teach because I love watching actors grow in confidence. I want to inspire the next generation of performers to step confidently into their truth and own the stage.

Acting Tutoring – Discover Your True Potential Whether you’re aiming for drama school, GCSE/A-Level success, professional roles, or LAMDA exams, my acting lessons are all about you. I take the time to get to know each student—not just as a performer but as a person—so we can explore what makes you unique and which characters you naturally connect with. My Approach: I believe acting is about truth, connection, and finding your voice. Using a range of techniques, including Laban, Stanislavski, Meisner, actions and objectives, character analysis, and textual analysis, I tailor my methods to suit your style. We’ll explore character motivations, emotional journeys, and script analysis to bring out your best performance. What We’ll Do: • Personalised Sessions: I start by understanding who you are, your strengths, and your areas for growth. This helps us find characters that align with your natural qualities and challenge you in exciting ways. • Vocal and Physical Warm-Ups: Each session begins with exercises to develop articulation, pitch, breath support, and physical freedom. • Character and Script Work: We’ll analyse texts, dig into emotional connections, and explore characters through improvisation, movement, and detailed script analysis. • A Range of Material: We’ll work with contemporary and classical pieces, giving you a broad toolkit and a diverse library of monologues for auditions. • Building Confidence: I create a supportive, relaxed environment where you can experiment, take risks, and refine your craft. Specialist Areas: • Drama School Auditions: Monologue selection, character development, emotional depth, and audition prep. • GCSE/A-Level Drama: Text analysis, performance skills, and exam preparation. • Professional Auditions: Scene work, emotional preparation, consistency, and script interpretation. • LAMDA Exams: • Acting: Truthful storytelling, character motivation, and dynamic performances. • Speaking in Public: Structuring arguments, vocal delivery, impromptu speeches, and confidence building. • Verse and Prose: Understanding rhythm, tone, and literary devices, with a focus on vocal clarity and expression. My Philosophy: I’m not here to give you a one-size-fits-all method. Instead, I want to help you explore who you are as an actor, find characters that fit you naturally, and build the skills to take on any role with authenticity and depth. Online lessons will be more limited of course but I’m happy to do a getting to know each other call first before any in person lessons! Ready to begin?
