About Catherine
My name is Cat, and I have a Master's of Fine Arts from the University of Southern California, specializing in Film & Television. My main career is professional screenwriting, and I am currently developing a TV show with the production company who made GINNY & GEORGIA for Netflix. While I have been developing my career, I have worked as a Substitute Teacher and Tutor on the side, because I love teaching! And I always find that helping students learn, helps me learn, too.

Hi there, Future Student!
My favorite thing to do when working with someone new is try to figure out how we can make learning genuinely exciting -- for you, as an individual. I like to teach organizational skills that can help you feel empowered in your academic life, whether we have a session that day or not. For me, the keyword is SUPPORT. I want you to look forward to our sessions!
Whether we are working on one or two subjects, or your entire academic career, I always begin a lesson by checking in to see if there has been any recent feedback on assignments from your teachers, or any tests or quizzes that have been graded. If you didn't do as well as you hoped on these assignments, we can go through them and try to figure out what was missing. I always encourage my students to advocate for themselves with their teachers, and try to find ways to get extra credit to make up for difficult grades. Then, we can take stock of our tasks and prioritize the best way to get them done. I like to break up sessions to make sure we get a chunk of work done on each important task, and make sure that we have a few minutes at the end to assess what we accomplished, and what we may have had trouble finishing.
