About Tom
I've been using Ableton Live since version 1, around 24 years ago. I'm also a classically trained musician having learned violin since the age of 8. I learned bass guitar at uni while studying Music, Acoustics and Recording. I then joined a violin stageshow called Barrage and was with them for 5 years. Then I ran a band with others for about 7 years - Black Diamond Bay (UK) - using Ableton Live to produce our music, and also onstage - synced to another band member also using Ableton Live with electric drums. I also taught ensemble music and music theory at Leeds College of Music for 12 years. After BDB I continued to teach at LCoM for a time but also began making production/library music for various music libraries including Universal, Soho PM, Indiesonics, Bibliotheque and BAM. I then quit teaching and focused on production music and parenting and that brings me to now! I also have a Masters in Acoustics with Salford University.

My ideal approach for these lessons is for people to come to me with a variety of aims and issues they need help with. My strengths are my musicality (I've always had a strong musical ear and can pick out melodies, harmonies, rhythms really well). I'm a classically trained musician having learned violin since aged 8 and I generally scored top marks on the aural section of my violin exams. I have also used Ableton Live since version 1 and I'm a keen problem solver. I love solving problems. I'm happy to do various length lessons - 30 min, 45 min, 60 min etc. I can teach beginners, intermediate or advanced. I'm not sure on the rules on superprof for teaching under 18s, but it seems sensible for there to be an over 18 carer present if that is required.
