About FrancesEve
THE ORTON-GILLINGHAM METHOD The program offered is based on the Orton-Gillingham method of reading instruction. This approach is named after a Neurologist, Dr. Samuel T. Orton and a Psychologist/Educator, Anna Gillingham. Dr. Orton was a pioneer in the field of reading failure and related language difficulties. He brought together neuroscientific information developing the most accepted and successful theory and practice for reading remediation. He founded the International Dyslexia Association. This approach combines multisensory techniques: Teaching the structure of written English, sounds (phonemes), prefixes, suffixes, roots and common spelling rules, using visual, auditory and kinesthetic approaches. The program provides students with immediate feedback and a predictable sequence.
