About Kamal
I am an English teacher with experience in online and in-person instruction. I have been teaching for 6 years full time but have been a tutor in various capacities for over 10 years. I currently work with high school students but have taught school age children as well as adults. I focus on developing my students' verbal fluency, written communication, listening skills and reading comprehension. I write for academic as well as non-academic audiences and am skilled at researching, writing, editing & proofreading. I am passionate about pedagogy & instruction and will work with my students to develop an appropriate curriculum and methodology that will develop your skills and make you feel successful.

My lessons are layered and scaffolded to ensure success for all students. Depending on the area we are working on I always begin with an activator to assess your prior knowledge on the topic and/or your skill set. Then, I introduce the new material, skill or topic to be learned through direct instruction and demonstration. I use real life exemplars and mentor texts as often as possible to enrich the lesson. We discuss and navigate your questions together and then you practice the skills with my support before working independently. I will provide optional homework for you to practice independently before our next lesson. I always ensure that my lessons are appropriately challenging and properly sequenced to ensure there are no gaps or lags in instruction. I am trained to teach high school students as well as adults but can also modify my lessons to be more appropriate for younger students.
